Jessica + Allen’s 60th Birthday Celebration

Jessica and Allen’s 60th birthday celebration was truly one for the books. In Chinese culture, turning 60 marks five full cycles through the Chinese zodiac, bringing the guest of honor back to their birth zodiac, symbolically beginning a new life cycle. For this birthday celebration, we used the colors of red and gold, which symbolize fortune and prosperity and are heavily emphasized in Chinese culture. The theme of longevity is especially important in 60th birthday celebration and therefore, we incorporated symbols such as cranes and the Chinese character of longevity, “壽” (•/shou/), throughout our decorations and dessert selections.
